Chilly and wet

Wow- we have really had some nasty weather over South Africa the last few days! Nothing like your hurricanes or tornadoes- but enough to be called disasters here. Goodness last night they had to close off one of our main freeways into Port Elizabeth because the sea swells were so high that the waves were breaking OVER the freeway into the buildings on the other side. We had sea rushing up under roads and taking out buildings yesterday- Nathan got so excited about the size of the waves they were talking about that he went for a ride on his scooter to have a look at the beaches close to our house.(with STERN warnings from his mother to stay far enough away!) He came back with * Mom Mom- there's no parking lot- it's all sea!*- So yeah- for us it's a BIG thing-lol.

I found these photo's on our local newspaper site EP Herald online to show you the waves and damage.

This was before they closed the freeway- but you can see the size of the waves breaking over the N2 (photo by beverley darlow)

A little later on and it's breaking right over the train lines and dollosses (sea wall break)-if you look in the left hand corner of this photo you will see an idiot with cell phone taking a picture of the wave(can you say DUH!)- now you can see just how big these waves were.- photo by ivor markman

At least the sun is shining today and hopefully that will help with all the clean up. But the WHOLE coast line right down to Cape Town looks like this-CRAZY WEATHER!! Bring me SPRING and the warm sun- LOL

Have you got my Personal Use Grab bag yet???- -

Well I better run to fetch my dear son from school and take him for another driving lesson- ( he's actually quite easy to teach, he doesn't argue or get upset when I tell him to do anything different- mmmm, think maybe he is just SCARED of his mom- bwahahahahaha) Hope you all have a wonderful day further- Hugs and Loves Kim

Ok, I'd get worried seeing those kind of waves!
(Then again, living 4-5 meters UNDER sea level, does that to you... lol)

But they're also beautiful to see, just not to have. ;)

Love the alpha, sure does look funky!!

Thank you!!

OMGOSH KIM!!! That's just crazy!! I can't believe those photos! And I'd be hurting SOMEONE for ignoring my warnings about staying away from there! I bet I can find you a cow whip somewhere here in TEXAS and mail it to you, LOL. I hope that you all stay safe and away from those HUGE waves.
We'll be lucky to even get a drop of rain from Hurricane Gustav! We need some good rain, but no damage! Not going to happen now, they said it's heading north into Oklahoma, instead of moving west through North Texas. Darn. But I'll definately enjoy the high of 82 degrees instead of the near 99+ degree weather we've been having. Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hi! I'm always thinking of you, but haven't had the time to come by and say hi. From the 15th to the 2-4th of the month is always hectic for me. I'm sure you know how it is getting ready for the new month of challenges and all. And then I have to through my CT Call in there too, LMBO! What was I thinking?? Hee hee hee. Oh well it's all in a days work for me. Have a great week and ttys.
Hugs,
Jennifer

WHATS WITH this weather!! I truly wonder if its Global Warming etc... but I often wonder if part of it is a natural cycle, like if we went back in the historical archives we might see they had a year 'way back when' that it was bad? At any rate, its pretty scary and awe inspiring when we experience something like this. Sure gives us a new respect for nature! Thanks for sharing your photos, and I'm relieved your weather has tamed and cleanup can proceed.

YES, I've got your PU Grab Bag and am DYING to use it... just have to paint the trim on a few windows, organize my art closet, take a few hours out with a dear friend, for a coffee on the beach... then ya, I'll hop right too it LOL! - its my TREAT for the day.

I like the way Croppy desaturated her photo - it brings attention to the colors of the papers and elements, gives it a good feel!

PK Doll's layout is ... well is that a DOLL in the layout or a real baby, for its TOO CUTE! Nice work!

And of COURSE Jenni ALWAYS does a terrific job w/ a layout - some people just HAVE IT, kwim?

Well, you get yourself out there Mrs. Kimbee, and have a fabo day!

Those photos are amazing. OH, the power of Mother Nature!

I'm trying really hard with this color challenge, Kim (and thanks for this bitchin' alpha!) Thanks to some freebie CU overlays, I have managed to make 5 papers, but I'm stuck on elements. But I have awhile, so I'm going to keep at it. BTW, I've never designed anything before, and my programs (DIP10), isn't really conducive for designing, but I'm giving it a try.
