Boy- from one extreme to the other- Bunny with her ice storms in Kentucky( with a lot still without power!) and Australia suffering with their huge fires at the moment! It's sad and scary to see just how destructive nature can actually be- yet she can be so beautiful at the same time too!
My heart goes out to all those at the moment loosing loved ones and their homes. My BIL and SIL live in Australia in Cairns, and some of my old school friends too! They are all safe at the moment thank goodness- but WOW, it's really scary how fast fire can move when the ground is dry and the weather is HOT!
We have bush fires here at home too- but not in that magnitude thank goodness. South Africa is very similar to Australia with lots of bush and open grasslands that become really dry in the summer.! Pickleberrypop is proud to report that $1,500 from their site profits has been donated via the Australian Red Cross. How AWESOME is that! If you are Australian( or NOT) and wish to help out in anyway- you can read up HERE on just how you can lend a hand and your support. Thanks Flergs for your heads up on your blog today ;-)

I think I found your spider. Looks like everyone is trying to find it for you.
Gasteracanthus (kite spiders)
Kite spiders are diurnal orb-web spiders. Species occur mainly in the tropics and sub-tropics, with four species in South Africa. The spider is small, 8-10 mm, brightly coloured in shades of cream, yellow, red and black. The adbomen is sclerotised (porcelain-like) with four lateral and two posterior spines, the second pair longest and the first shortest
